When people talk about Abersoch, it is with an ‘I wish I could be there now’ tone in their voice. And not surprising, as even in this age of highly competitive tourist resorts Abersoch remains a firm contender in the holiday hotspots league.

It is a home of vibrant watersports, outdoor pursuits, camping and fun activities for all the family.

While it may not boast tropical temperatures like some of its far off competitors, it does enjoy a relatively mild year round climate - and that means the possibilities for action-packed breaks are endless.

Things To See

Whether it is the height of summer and you choose Abersoch as a base from which to enjoy the nearby Wakestock celebrations - the biggest wakeboarding competition in Europe with a big name musical festival thrown in - or whether it is autumn’s masked Halloween party or mid-winter’s January sea dip at the main beach, Abersoch has a lot to offer.

On the breathtakingly beautiful Llyn Peninsula, it is a seaside resort with traditional family appeal, but also with a modern youthfulness which has given it a new injection of life over recent years.

It boasts internationally acclaimed sailing waters, an open surf contest, regatta, annual jazz festival and an array of trendy bars and restaurants, all of which have turned it into one of THE places to be for summer and winter breaks.

Tourism chiefs have noted that more and more people are visiting Abersoch out of season, as the number of events on the local calendar increases and the number of attractions is extended from new and interesting craft and gift shops to horse riding, golfing, climbing, cycling and fishing.

Foodie fans will love events like the sophisticated seafood week in June and the sweet toothed feasts of scrummie cakes and coffees regularly sold about town to raise funds for Abersoch RNLI.

Visit the crab catching competition in the harbour, the great raft race on main beach, or the best dressed beach hut contest. And that’s just for the energetic visitor.

For those who prefer a slower pace Abersoch has a special appeal too - from beautiful beaches offering great expanses of clear sands to stroll along and watch the sun setting, to smart luxury hotels with health spas and beauty therapies of the type enjoyed in a pampering paradise. Sheltered sun traps and quiet coves mean it is possible to catch a few rays here even on mild winter days.
