The Conwy (Caernarvonshire) Golf club was established in 1890, the original course layout being designed by a group of members from the Royal Liverpool Golf Club -this historic link being strengthened during 2006, when Conwy became the first Welsh club to stage the Open Final Qualifying, as the Championship returned to Hoylake.
The club passed another historic milestone in 2007 when the Ryder Cup Wales Seniors Open was staged at Conwy for the first time, when Carl Mason beat Europe’s leading senior players to win one of the most prestigious events on the European Seniors Tour. The event returns 13th to 15th June 2008.
A links course, located on the scenic North Wales coast and set in the shadow of Conwy mountain, looking across the estuary to Llandudno’s Great Orme with Anglesey to the west.
The course plays to 6647 yards off the white tees, par 72. With plenty of gorse and wind to contend with, Conwy presents a fine test of golf, but if your golf is not quite up to scratch, you can simply relax and enjoy the truly magnificent scenery!
Naturally, Conwy’s links enables the club to offer year round golf and with an abundance of accommodation in the locality, and easy access off the A55 Expressway, this is an ideal location for the touring golfer.
Conwy provides the challenge, the scenery and also a great welcome for its visiting golfers with a modern clubhouse and excellent catering facilities, offering excellent views of the course and an opportunity to view the three Douglas Adams paintings of the course, dating back to the late 1890s. Peter Lees the PGA professional at Conwy for over 40 years is on hand to welcome you and cater for all your golfing needs, with trolleys and buggies available for hire.
Visitors are most welcome, by prior arrangement. From 1st April 2008 the weekday and weekend green fee of £45 per round / £50 per day represents great value.
