Eisteddfod in North Wales
Flintshire’s county town, Mold, staged the National Eisteddfod 2007, while the Urdd National Eisteddfod 2008 is at Gloddau Isaf, Llandudno, from May 26-31, with drama, instrumental, Cerdd Dant, folk competitions and the chance to win the Bryn Terfel Scholarship.
North Wales is also home to Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod at Royal International Pavilion, Llangollen, every July, drawing competitors from as far as Canada and Africa. Past stars have include Jose Carreras, Lesley Garrett and Pavarotti. Llangollen Fringe Festival, held at the same time, attracts big names from rock, pop, stage and screen.
