Set in beautiful scenery with fantastic views over the Menai Strait toward Caernarfon Castle. They offer several miles of both beach and grass tracks for cross country , an indoor school ménage with show jumps as well as individual instruction to suit all standards of riding ability. What did you do?

I wasn't sure what the riding centre offered for my three young children, but was given plenty of advice over the telephone prior to booking. Children have to be over the age of four ( due to insurance purposes) so I was advised to book a lead rein hack for Dyfan and Cadi followed by a riding lesson in the indoor ménage. Older children and adults could book hacks and lessons according to their own needs and ability. The staff were very helpful and would advise according to the age and family participants.

On arrival the children were organised with hats etc and led toward their gorgeous ponies! Soon they were all tacked up and ready to go. They were then taken by riding centre staff on a lead rein hack around local tracks for a good half an hour. It is possible to walk with your children if they are unsure, but I would advise you wear wellies.

On returning, my qualified cowboys were all red cheeked and very confident ready for their indoor lesson in the ménage. They were given a thoughtful instructor and two assistants to help them along! Within half an hour they were taught the basics of sitting correctly, holding reins, walking, stopping, turning and even trotting by the end. The lesson was well structured according to their ability and gave them lots of confidence.

Facilities

Toilets with disabled access were available. There's also a snack machine on site if you get hungry.

Lessons: Private ½ and ½ £24, shared ½ and ½ £22, private ½ hr £18, shared ½ hr £13, group lesson £18, children ½ day £ 35, children's full day £55
