How did you get there?
We drove along the A483 and followed the brown tourist signs for Techniquest near the Plas Coch retail park. Parking is free. Wrexham Railway station is only a five-minute walk away.

We stayed about 2½ hours. This included the 30-minute Starlab presentation.
Did you take a brolly?
No. Although we chose to visit on a rainy day everything is inside so it is a perfect place to go in wet weather. We just needed our coats for the brief walk from the car to the Techniquest entrance.
What did you do there?
Had a go at a good variety of hands-on exhibits. One of our favourites was the shadow box - you stand against a white wall in a darkened room and wait for the flash light to go off.
The result - your silhouette is captured perfectly on the white wall in the shape you were posing when the flash went off. Another interactive display, and there are plenty to have a go at, was building an arched bridge with shaped blocks.
The challenge was to build it properly so that it holds your weight. Our favourite was Starlab, with its inflatable planetarium. We crawled inside a tent and found out information on the planets and the sky at night.
How much did it cost?
Adult/child or concession visitor £4, kids under 4s free, multi ticket for four £14. Presentation tickets an extra 50p each.
How about food and drink?
There are vending machines plus a picnic area for families to eat their own food. There is also a café within NEWI serving drinks, sandwiches, jacket potatoes. A cup of tea costs 60p while a jacket potato costs 80p. But we went to nearby Frankie & Benny's on Plas Coch retail park.
Are there any shops?
One near the reception sells pens, keyrings etc, things ranged from 10p-£18. With their £2 pocket money the boys bought a dinosaur skeleton excavation kit for £1.70 plus some glow in the dark stars to stick on the wall.
Is it OK/safe for kids?
We loved it, we've been about four times before. On each visit though the presentations and some of the exhibits change.
Can people with disabilities get around?
Yes - no problem, lots of room in between exhibits plus there is a lift to the presentations.
Toilets?
Very clean, there is a baby change area and a toilet for those with disabilities.
What was the best bit?
The satisfaction on the boys faces when they managed to build the arched bridge with blocks.
Opening times?
Open Tuesday to Friday from 10am and weekends from 11am. Last admission 3.30pm. More details http://www.tqnewi.org/ or 01978 293400. The presentations are held at 1pm and 3pm but it's best to check.
