Anglesey County Show
ANGLESEY is set to come alive next week as locals and visitors flock in their thousands to take part in a fantastic two day event.
The Anglesey County Show is one not to be missed! Taking place on Tuesday, August 12 and Wednesday, August 13, there's something for the whole family from horse jumping and dog shows to jousting, and competitions including the ‘Shire Horse of the Year Competition' qualifier.
This year is set to have a fantastic turn out following on from the success of previous years, with around 60,000 people expected to attend.
Situated at the Anglesey Agricultural Showground the show will boast around 300 stalls selling a wide range of items, from fresh local produce and arts and crafts, to a delicious selection of food.
The Anglesey County Show is located at the centre of the island just off the A5 road at Gwalchmai and will be clearly signposted.
It will be open to the public from 8am and judging will start soon after at 8.30am.
There will be lots to see and do, with a fun fair, plus plenty of cattle, pigs, shire horses, goats, a pigeon and rabbit marque, plus falconry and ferret racing in the ‘country pursuits area.'
To improve your experience of the 121th annual event, new attractions have been secured and the show ground has been improved with the installation of a new white fence around the main ring.
The Agricultural Showground is continually being updated as it hosts plenty events throughout the year.
If you think you can shine above the rest then don't forget to enter the Ambassador competition, which since last year is now open to both male and female entries.
Simply visit the entertainment marquee on the morning of the first day and don't forget to put your best foot forward and your thinking cap on because entrants will be interviewed by a panel of judges who are looking for entrants to demonstrate personality and intelligence.
What's more, there are cash prizes to be won for the top three entrants, with the first prize now standing at £200, second prize at £100 and third prize at £50.
Don't forget, if you're keen to catch a glimpse of the county's prize winners, make sure you watch the daily grand parade with the president.
The annual presidents' dinner rounds off the first day of the show with a meal enjoyed by nearly 600 guests from the great and good of the county plus show officials, vice presidents and major sponsors.
Entrance to the event costs £12 per adult per day, £8 for senior citizens and £3 for children over five years of age.
