Dean Maynard at Llangollen Lights Festival
GET set for a stunning summer, as North Wales will face some of its hottest weather on record later this year. That's the prediction of psychic and ghosthunter Dean Maynard, nicknamed "Midas" for his ability to bring good fortune to sports teams and other famous figures.
He will be opening the first ever Llangollen Lights festival next Saturday [March 21].
The Durham-based mystic, who has spent the last eight years visiting the UK's spookiest locations in the hunt for ghostly presences, will be opening the show at Llangollen Town Hall and says he is looking forward to meeting other specialists in the supernatural.
"It'll be really good to get so many-like minded individuals together, and for members of the public to be able to meet some of the experts in the fields of ghost hunting and the paranormal. It's the first time this event has ever been held and it's something I'm looking forward to."
"I haven't been to North Wales before but I've already been told by many people that it's beautiful, and I'm sure the show will be a great success with people looking to find out more," he said.
Mr Maynard, originally from Reading, Berkshire, says he has helped predict a number of events linked to celebrities across the world.
"I'd hate to say I have a definite percentage rate of accurate predictions, as even the world's best psychics can and do get it wrong, but I like to think I'm fairly accurate."
Having developed and trained his psychic ability since childhood, he has helped bring good luck to celebrities including X-Factor victor Leona Lewis and Superbowl winners the New York Giants among others.
"If you think lucky, you'll be lucky, so positivity is a major part of it.
"A lot of people seem to dismiss it but if you genuinely believe in something you can make a good prediction."
"One of my more recent predictions was that early this year we would have very heavy snowfall, and that came true, but I've also predicted one of the hottest summers for this year, and I think a lot of people are hoping I'm right on that!"
Mr Maynard also has a number of predictions for stars of sports and entertainment for 2009, including seeing England football ace David Beckham receiving a knighthood for his services to the game in 2009.
Although Midas says there will be no easy end to the current credit crunch, one event he has foreseen is the breaking up of Brit Award winning band Girls Aloud after singer Cheryl Cole announcing a pregnancy.
"That's one prediction I'm actually hoping will turn out to be wrong, as I'm a big fan of Girls Aloud."
Admission to the Llangollen Lights festival costs £2.50, with free entry for accompanied children.
