Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod

PERFORMERS from Algeria, Columbia, South Africa, USA, Thailand and Tobago will help launch the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in July.

Under the banner of "Around the world in 80 rhythms" performers will join local children to present the traditional Message of Peace and Goodwill on Tuesday July 8.

Later in the day the traditional parade of all competitors through the streets of Llangollen will be staged.

Eisteddfod executive director Mervyn Cousins said: "In many ways the Children's Day is the kingpin and foundation block for everything Llangollen stands for.

"We see the young of many nations come together and sing, dance and enjoy each other's company without prejudice. They show their unity in a fabulous parade together.

"It's all about togetherness, inclusiveness, and unity. It's always a fantastic life-affirming experience that never fails to grab you by the heartstrings."

Mr Cousins said Colores De Columbia will bring a rich mixture of indigenous Indian, African and European roots music to the Children's Day celebrations.

"Bollywood Brass are celebrating over a decade of performing their exhilarating, high energy Indian Rhythms set against a backdrop of jazzy horn riffs."
