Proms in the park, Rhyl

ONE OF the region's most recognisable musical maestros says she is looking forward to performing at a picnic festival later this summer alongside some of her classical contemporaries.
Singer, instrumentalist and producer Annette Bryn Parri is among the acts who will be taking part in the Proms in the Park Festival, being held at the Coed Coch stately home, near Dolwen, on June 6, and says she is excited about the event.
"Some of the acts in this year's show are very promising and I'm really looking forward to seeing them perform, and performing alongside them. I've done outdoor festivals before but never one at Coed Coch, so this will be a bit of a new experience for me."
"I sadly missed last year's show after I had an accident in Ireland when I was performing there, so I'm really looking forward to taking part in the event this year. It will be an important way of bringing a lot of new voices to North Wales, all of whom have a very high quality to them."
This year marks the second time a proms event has been held in the grounds of Coed Coch, and audiences are being promised the chance to enjoy a high calibre of music from across Wales and other countries while enjoying their own food in a picnic-style environment.
The musician says the event will have a very international feel to it, and among the acts joining her are Dennis O'Neill's Cardiff International Academy of Voice, Mexican singer Carlos Asuna, and South African baritone Bulelani Midikizela.
"The support for last year's show was fantastic, but I think everybody involved would really like to see the event grow for the people of North Wales, so they can appreciate such fantastic singers."
"There is definitely a more global feel to this festival, and I'm hoping everyone in North Wales will be able to give them the welcome they deserve, especially after so many of them have travelled such a long way just to perform in the region."
Annette comes to Proms in the Park as a well established performer in her own right, despite having branched off into directing and production with other musicians, and will be joining Bangor-based vocal group Ysgol Glanaethwy, who came second in last year's BBC series Last Choir Standing, on their tour later this year.
"They really are a fantastic group who perform so well, and I'm really looking forward to working with them as they go all across Wales on their latest tour," she added.
"I wouldn't say I'm a producer or a performer in particular, I'm just someone who loves working with people, as it's something I really enjoy doing."
