We provide walking holidays on the Llyn Peninsula designed to meet your needs and pocket.
The Llyn has some of the best coastal walking country in the world. It is an unspoilt area with protected status as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Washed by the Gulf Stream the peninsula also enjoys a mild climate and slightly different flora and fauna. It is a place of folklore which offers solitude, space and a place for thought.
Our group, in cooperation with Gwynedd Council have pioneered the Llyn Coast Path, better known as the Edge of Wales Walk. This is a largely coastal path which takes in some fascinating churches, standing stones and Iron Age forts up in the hills overlooking the sea. This is, in the main, part of an old pilgrimage route to Bardsey Island. This is a beautiful place just 2 miles off the Llyn Coast. It is a nature reserve, a haven for birdwatchers and also reputed to be the burial place for 20,000 saints. It is also farmed with a few residents. Boat trips can be organised to visit the island, which is known in Welsh as Ynys Enlli.
We offer walkers a package which includes bed and breakfast accommodation at places of your choice and a transport service for you or your luggage so that you are not doubling back or carrying packs. We also offer maps, full route guidance notes and local information and even a pre-programmed GPS unit to help with navigation. Most customers choose either:
1. A long weekend of 3 / 4 nights staying in one place and using our transport service.
2. The Pilgrimage Path from Clynnog Fawr to Bardsey Island / Aberdaron, some 47 miles over a 5 / 6 day period.
3. The whole of the Llyn Coast Path route from Caernarfon to Porthmadog, some 98 miles over a 9 / 10 day period.
We find that everybody has different needs so we are happy to adapt our standard packages which can be found on www.edgeofwales.co.uk, to your exact requirements. All we ask you to do is tell us what you are looking for and we will endeavour to find it.
Visitors from overseas often like to combine a walking holiday on the Llyn with a visit to Snowdonia and we are happy to make bookings for this. We are quite prepared to pick up from local railway stations. We have special facilities for large groups. We also have our own accommodation in our new Walking Centre and would be happy to quote you rates simply for you to stay and choose your own walks.
We can also offer cycle hire as an option. The inland lanes of Llyn are beautiful and very quiet and a day cycling them is an unforgettable experience.
