SLATE WORKSHOP TOURS
The self guided tour of the works includes a video presentation on how slate is quarried and then a walkman provides a full description on the various machines and processes. Geological, historical, calligraphy and letter cutting exhibitions form part of the tour. There is also an opportunity to have a go at engraving on a piece of slate that you get to keep as a souvenir. Also there is a children's quiz for which there is a slate prize.
The on site cafe appropriately named the Welsh Rock Cafe has a wide variety of snacks and has a wide selection of home made cakes, bara brith and scones.
Lon Eifion is a cycle track and public footpath which runs adjacent to the works. This runs from Caernarfon to Criccieth and is off road and so is safe to walk along and to ride bikes on. Bikes are available for hire from Caernarfon which is less than 6 miles away and this is an ideal healthy way for a family to spend a morning afternoon or day outside in the countryside.
The Workshops are open daily all year except Christmas Day Boxing Day and New Years Day.
Entrance to the showroom is free and the self guided tour of the workshop costs £4.50 for adults and £4.00 for concessions and children. A family ticket ( 2+ 2) costs £15.00.
