LLANGOLLEN 2010: 5th - 11th July

For one week, in one town, over fifty countries gather for one of Wales' most unique experiences. This July over 120,000 performers and festival goers from all over the world will visit Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in the picturesque Dee Valley, North Wales. This cool and cultural event, considered as 'Wales' gift to the World' was established in 1947 to promote peace and goodwill between nations through music and dance. Still thriving today Llangollen Eisteddfod has become one of the world's most colourful festivals. During each themed day the festival field is a hive of activity with main stage competitions, outside stage performances, workshops, and impromptu singing and dancing from every corner of the world, in national and regional costume.

The Parade of Nations; Tuesday 6th 4.30pm a truly unique parade around Llangollen town!

Competitions: Each day is filled with Eisteddfod Competitions with over 50 nations taking part; one of these are the Soul Sounds Academy Choir, Colombo from Sri Lanka: runners-up in the Youth Choir category in 2004 and, since then they have gone from strength to strength, having performed in both Australia and China. In January 2005 the choir helped to raise funds for the victims of the devastating Asian tsunami of 26 December 2004.

The evening Gala concerts over the years have attracted some of show-business' biggest names such as Pavarotti, Michael Ball, Elaine Page, Domingo and Dame Shirley Bassey. This year is no exception with concerts by Katherine Jenkins, Nigel Kennedy, Only Men Aloud, Karl Jenkins, Bond, Llŷr Williams and more! Join the rest of the world, join the party...

"It all promises to be a musical feast and there's no excuse for you missing out on the festival vibe", says Festival Director Mervyn Cousins. "It's going to be the best Llangollen yet!"
