Anglesey Museum and Art Gallery
As a purpose built museum, arts and events gallery, Oriel Ynys Môn has so much to offer.
During the Summer of 2008 Oriel Ynys Môn will proudly open the doors to its new gallery Oriel Kyffin Williams – an event eagerly anticipated by art lovers everywhere.
Oriel Kyffin Williams will be a permanent and fitting tribute to one of Wales’ most celebrated and respected artists.
Oriel Kyffin Williams will have a dynamic and changing programme of exhibitions displaying the artists’ work. This will range from Oriel Ynys Môn’s own collection to collections borrowed from institutions and individuals.
Visitors who wish to learn about the cultural history of Anglesey can enjoy the centre’s atmospheric History Gallery which presents a vivid account of the island’s past through sound, imagery, reconstructions and real artefacts. One section of the gallery is dedicated to one of the foremost wildlife artists of the twentieth century, Charles F.Tunnicliffe . This unique collection of paintings records Anglesey’s abundant wildlife.
In our Art Gallery, we hold up to eight exhibitions annually. The art gallery serves to allow artists, sculptors and craftworkers to present their work on a local, regional and national level.
During the course of the year, the Oriel organises a variety of events – workshops for children and families as well as specialised talks. School groups are welcome and often take advantage of the themes of the History Gallery.
For 2008 the Oriel shop Jac Do has been re designed and further extended.
Boasting an array of gifts - books, toys, prints as well as unique and exciting gifts, Jac Do is also home to a wide and superb range of innovative craft work from some of the best craftworkers around.
So, if it’s a special gift for a friend or a little something for yourself a visit to Jac Do is one you cannot afford to miss.
Oriel Ynys Môn has a newly refurbished café Blas Mwy.
Gwenan and her staff offer a warm welcome and prepare a delicious range of home made delicacies. A tempting range of vegetarian and children’s meals are also available.
Blas Mwy is a licenced café.
ORIEL KYFFIN WILLIAMS
The eagerly awaited opening of Oriel Kyffin Williams will take place in the Summer of 2008.
Oriel Kyffin Willaims will be a permanent and fitting tribute to one of Wales’ most celebrated and respected artists.
Sir Kyffin Williams was a passionate advocate for the arts on Anglesey and was and active and enthusiastic supporter of the work of Oriel Ynys Môn since its opening in 1991.
Kyffin Williams generously donated over 400 original works of art and sculpture to Oriel Ynys Môn, ranging from sketches to drawings to major oils. The Gallery prides itself on this large and important collection which it holds for the benefit of the people of Anglesey and its visitors.

THE SIR KYFFIN WILLIAMS TRUST

The Sir Kyffin Willaims Trust was established to support the project of completing the new Oriel Kyffin Williams. The Trust will continue to promote the work of Sir Kyffin Williams in many areas with a particular focus on art education.
KYFFIN WILLIAMS PRINTS
Twelve new prints, selected from the original works donated to Oriel Ynys Môn by Sir Kyffin Williams himself are for sale at Oriel Ynys Môn. Produced by Curwen Press, Cambridge, each print has a limited edition run of 350, and have been individually signed by the artist himself.
This is a unique opportunity for art lovers and collectors to acquire examples of Sir Kyffin Williams’ work, and at the same time, assist Oriel Ynys Môn and the Sir Kyffin Williams Trust to promote the work of this great artist.
