At Plas y Brenin we like to think that we offer training opportunities that give you the best opportunity to make the most of your skills and ambitions. Our staff are amongst the most experienced, committed and competent outdoor enthusiasts you could ever hope to meet and it is their unique talents that make a visit to Plas y Brenin so special.
Whether you want a residential course, an update on the weather and climbing conditions, a bar meal and a chat or a qualification that could help you in your work you will find it here at the National Mountain Centre.

Plas y Brenin is managed by the Mountain Training Trust. MTT is a registered charity, set up by the British Mountaineering Council, the Mountain leader Training Board, and the United Kingdom Mountain Training Board, specifically to run the centre. Plas y Brenin is under the direct management of the organisations whose members are the key users of the centre and its facilities.

Taster Days
Whether you're eight years old or eighty years young, you're sure to find the excitement you're looking for on one of our Taster Days.
You can choose from a two hour adrenalin pumping session in any one of the three activities listed below for as little as £15.00. Or, if you think you're up to it, you could try all three in a day for only £35.00.
On one of our Taster days you can experience:
Climbing
2 exciting hours of climbing on one of our state-of-the-art indoor climbing walls.
Canoeing
2 fun packed hours learning to paddle a canoe on our vast open private lake.
Skiing
A 2-hour introduction to the exciting sport of skiing on our challenging, purpose-built artificial slope.
• One 2hr session for £15 or all 3 activities in a day for £35
2008 Sessions run on the following dates:
Friday 21st March - Sunday 13th April (Two for the price of one - Easter Special)
Saturday 24th May - Sunday 1st June
Saturday 19th July - Friday 29th August
Monday 20th October - Friday 24th October
Monday 27th October - Friday 31st October
Useful Information about our Taster Days
The price includes all instruction and equipment hire. So all you need to bring is a complete change of clothes and shoes in case you get wet canoeing and, if you are skiing it's essential to have long sleeves, trousers and a pair of thick gloves. You will also need to bring your own packed lunch.
Sessions run 7-days a week during Easter, May bank and Summer holidays and Monday to Friday during October half term.
Open to adults and children from 8 years upwards. (7 years old can attend but only when accompanied by a participating adult.)
Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. But if your children are over 10 years old, you can leave them with us from 9.30 til 5.00.
For special needs, alternative arrangements may be necessary, please phone to discuss your requirements before booking.
All sessions are weather dependent. Every effort will be made to accommodate your booking but should conditions be such that we cannot run your session we will offer an alternative activity.
