One of North Wales' newest and most exciting attractions is the Redline Indoor Karting Centre which is based on the Cibyn Industrial Estate in Caernarfon, around one mile from the town centre and its majestic 13th century castle.
It is sited next door to the Barcud Television Studios.
The centre was opened in June 2007 and is accommodated in a purpose built building.
By the middle of February 2008 it was celebrating its 10,000th customer, testament to its popularity with people of all ages.
Indeed its oldest customer to date celebrated his 90th birthday at Redline. It is very family orientated and children's birthday parties are frequent events.
Redline Karting: The Circuit
There are 12 adult karts and four specifically designed for children.
The track is a winding 300 meters and tests drivers' abilities to the full.
Indoor karting is now recognised as a bona fide sport and many a successful Formula One driver has progressed to this level through utilising the local centre, Lewis Hamilton being the classic example.
Redline Karting: Health and Safety
The Centre's Management takes health and safety issues very seriously. All participants have a full safety briefing before going on the track.
They are then issued with overalls, helmet and gloves. The staff has undergone health and safety as well as first aid training.
The three directors, John Davis, Richard Lawson and Jimmy Clarke have undergone an advanced first aid training course.
Users, therefore, can be assured of having an exciting and enthralling time in a very safe and well marshalled environment - and every person over the age of 8 can use the facilities.
There is a comfortable viewing area where families and friends can watch the proceedings. In most circumstances lap times are recorded and a print out is made available to the participant.
This is very popular when friends or family race against each other. Winners are awarded medals to note their achievement.
Redline Karting: Races
There are a variety of organised races ranging from a reasonably priced 15 minute drive for individuals to min grand prix for small groups and there is even a 2 hour session for up to 50 people.
This ensures that all tastes are catered for - there are those who want to test their skill on a regular and individual basis to organised events for parties celebrating stag or hen nights, birthdays, works outings, corporate team building events and so on.
Redline Karting: Opening Times
The centre is open all the year round (closing only for Christmas Day and New Year's Day) 7 days per week, between 10am and 8pm.
Redline Karting: Background
The project is the brainchild of three local individuals John Davis, Richard Lawson and Jimmy Clarke.
All three had been involved in a long and bitter industrial dispute with their employers in a Caernarfon based factory.
Whilst on the picket line the three, having realised that they shared a common interest in a variety of motor sports, discussed the possibility of developing a business project.
The one recurring idea was the establishment of an indoor karting centre in Caernarfon.
They were all aware that the town and the area could do with another wet weather facility which would appeal to both local people and tourists on all year round basis.
It took the newly established company three years to develop its business plan and source the necessary funding to realise the dream and it finally opened its doors during June 2007.
All three have been karting enthusiasts for several years and, therefore, knew exactly what other users and enthusiasts are looking for from their local karting centre.
The company believes that its project now adds value to an area which already has other quality attractions and which is very popular with visitors to North Wales and is actively looking to work with some of these to further enhance the tourist experience. Its customer base is wide and varied with many users travelling long distances on a regular basis.
Redline Karting: Get in Touch

Those who have not participated before need not worry as the friendly staff will help them decide which kind of race will suit their ability and, more importantly, the budget!

Redline Karting: How to find us
Redline is based only 10 minutes away from the busy A55 Dual Carriageway which runs across the North Wales coast linking the North West and Midlands of England with one of the UK's busiest tourist areas.
This includes Snowdonia - the centre itself being only 5 miles away from the majestic Snowdon mountain itself.
If you are driving into the area from the A55 take the exit slip road signposted Bangor/Betws y Coed and head for Llanberis/Caernarfon.
As you come into the town of Caernarfon from this direction there is an industrial estate on your left - Cibyn. The centre is clearly signposted by a brown tourist sign.
It is literally a one minute drive from the estate entrance to the Redline Centre.
Happy Karting!
