This has always been a very special corner of Wales. Bala, about a mile away, is a friendly, welcoming town with every facility including a busy Monday market. Bala Lake, the Principality's largest, is a haven for water sports and fishing, the steady mountain breeze making it perfect for sailing and windsurfing.
There are lakes, mountain walks, and castles to visit, wonderful cycling, and fascinating museums; and then the quiet peace and tranquillity of Pen-y-Garth's own 20 acres of heaven.
Out and About
Both North and West coasts of Wales are within easy reach of Pen-y-Garth. Barmouth Bay has all the attractions of a coastal resort plus a charming old town, and the spectacular Snowdonia National Park provides ample opportunity for mountain walks, climbing, and of course taking a tour on the famous Snowdon Mountain Railway.
Heading inland, the larger shopping towns of Chester and Shrewsbury provide a picturesque and historical setting for a day out. And if ancient sites attract then there are no less than eleven castles and castle remains to visit.
Bala Lake is the largest natural lake in Wales and has gentle South Westerly winds along its length making it a popular destination for windsurfers and sailors. Equipment can be hired on site or you could opt for maximum exhilaration at the nearby white water rafting centre.
It is of course your holiday and for you to decide how you wish to pass your time, but here at Pen-y-Garth you can be sure you will find plenty to keep you active, amused and relaxed.

Where to find us
From the North and South, take the A5 to Druid, branching here onto the A494, signposted Bala.
At traffic signals in Bala turn left onto the B4391,signposted Llangynog. After crossing the bridge take the second right and follow the road around to your right for about half a mile and Penygarth will be on your right.
