The Royal Ship Hotel is an early 19th century Coaching Inn, in the heart of the old Market Town of Dolgellau, is ideally situated to explore the beauty of North and Mid Wales.

Only two hours drive from three international airports, located in the Snowdonia National Park, one of the most picturesque countrysides imaginable, surrounded by mountains, rivers and fishing lakes, only a few minutes drive to the coast of the Irish Sea, it is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday or short break.

A family run hotel, this historical building has been extensively modernised and extended over the years. Behind its attractive ivy-clad facade, 23 individual furnished Bedrooms, Bar and Restaurant is on offer and provides our guests with the ideal atmosphere for a memorable stay.

Families with Children are very welcome. Secure Car Parking facilities. Storage and jet wash facility for Mountain bikes for a small fee are available.

The Rooms at The Royal Ship Hotel

The Hotel offers 23 Bedrooms, of which 18 are en-suite, the remaining 5 rooms with private allocated bathrooms. You can choose between Single, Double, Twin or Triple Rooms, some with the attractive view over the Town Square and the Cader Idris Mountain Range. All Rooms are non-smoking and equipped with Tea & Coffee making facilities and television. Some of our larger rooms are suitable for families and compromise of a double bed and up to two single beds. For families with younger children we can provide a cot.

Unfortunately we are not able to offer rooms with wheel chair access.

The Restaurant

Our Kitchen offers a wide selection of traditional Welsh & British as well as contemporary dishes, prepared with a continental touch. Depending on seasons and availability we use fresh, mainly locally sourced produce.  Serving Food all day, you can choose from Bar Snacks, Sandwiches, Salads and our main Menu. Join us for Morning Coffee or Afternoon Tea. Non residents are welcome to our English and Continental Breakfast Buffet. Table D'Hote menus are available for larger groups, please enquire when making your Hotel reservation.

As previous winners of the Robinson's National Seafood Week Competition and emphasising on healthy eating we serve a great choice of Seafood.

 

Enjoy our unforgettable braised organic Lamb Shoulder Shank with Honey & Red Currant Jelly scented Gravy or tickle your taste buds with our well known Steak & Ale Pie cooked with nothing but Robinson's Unicorn Bitter.

For small private Dinner Parties up to 20 Guests you can book the Captain's Table on the first floor over looking the Town Square and the Cader Idris Mountain Range.

Our younger Guests may want to choose from our extensive Children's Menu with healthy options. Should you have any special dietary requests please enquire with our service personnel who will be delighted to help you to make the right choice.

If you need to depart early or embark on one of the many possible excursions in the area, you can order packed breakfasts or lunches from the reception the night before.

Surrounded by Mountains, Rivers, Lakes and the Seaside, you are spoiled for choice of the activities this stunning landscape has to offer.What ever your idea of a relaxing break from a hectic life may be, you will definitely find the right thing to do.

For Railway enthusiasts this has to be a paradise. More than a half dozen Railway lines are in easy reach of Dolgellau, a great day out for the whole family.

The Royal Ship Hotel is situated in North Wales, Gwynedd and is part of the Snowdonia National Park.

In easy reach by car within 2 to 2.5 hours from three international Airports or approximately 1 to 1.5 hours from any direction in England.
Via the M6 and M54 coming from the south or the M6 and M56 coming from the north, travelling from South of Wales following the A470 direction north.
Once arriving in Dolgellau just follow the one way system and find
The Royal Ship Hotel at the bottom of the Town Square.
